Terms of use
Last updated 7 October 2026.
These terms apply when you use VedicReader. Rajgopal & Co Pty Ltd (ABN 34 695 070 298), a company in Victoria, Australia ("we"), runs the site. By using the site you accept these terms. If you create an account, you also accept the Privacy policy.
The service
VedicReader offers a library of Vedic texts with recitations, a pañcāṅga, guides to rites and family observances, a horoscope workspace with a primer, and Ask. Most of it is free. We provide it as it is and as available, and we may change, add or remove features.
Accounts
Each account belongs to one person aged 16 or over. Give a real email address and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us if you think someone else has used it.
Fair use
- Use the site lawfully, for your own study, practice or teaching.
- Do not scrape or download the site in bulk in a way that slows it for others, and do not work around its rate limits, including Ask’s.
- Do not try to reach another reader’s data, break the site’s security or upload anything harmful.
- Do not use the site to harass anyone.
We may limit or suspend an account that breaks these rules.
Texts, audio and the site itself
The library’s texts, translations, recordings and images are in the public domain or under free licences. Each page credits its source and its licence, and you may use them on those terms.
Many recordings were first published on archive.org. We keep unchanged copies on our own storage (Cloudflare R2, served from media.vedicreader.com) only because archive.org is often offline. Each recording keeps its credit and a link to its source.
The site’s software, design, arrangement and written explanations belong to Rajgopal & Co Pty Ltd. You may quote short passages with a link back.
What you add, such as charts, notes and family details, remains yours. You let us store and process it only to provide the service to you.
Not professional advice
Jyotiṣa readings, forecasts, matching, muhūrtas, observance dates, guides to rites and Ask’s answers are for study and devotion. They are not medical, legal, financial, psychological or other professional advice, and they do not predict events with certainty.
The site calculates observance dates, and they may differ from your tradition’s almanac. Confirm them with your purohit. Ask’s answers come from a language model on your device and can be wrong.
VR+
- VR+ is a subscription that adds tools for your own charts. The plans page lists what it includes and its prices.
- It renews automatically at the end of each month or year. The provider charges the payment method you gave until you cancel.
- You can cancel at any time on the plans page: Manage billing for a card subscription through Stripe, or Cancel at the end of the cycle for Razorpay. VR+ stays on until the end of the period you have paid for, and you are not charged again.
- If a payment fails, VR+ continues for a short time while the provider tries again, then stops.
- If we change the price, we email subscribers at least 30 days before. The new price applies from the first renewal after that, and you can cancel before then.
- Refunds follow the Refund policy.
Gifts
You may give a voluntary one-time payment to support the site. A gift does not buy VR+ or any other service. Rajgopal & Co Pty Ltd is not a registered charity, and gifts are not tax-deductible. We refund a gift made in error as the Refund policy explains.
Availability and changes to these terms
We aim to keep the site running but do not promise that it will always be available or free of errors. We may change these terms. The new version appears here with a new date, and we email account holders about a change that affects them. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept the new terms.
Closing an account
You can delete your account at any time from You & family. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and we tell you why unless the law prevents it. If we close the service, we give account holders at least 30 days’ notice to download their data, and refund the unused part of any VR+ period.
Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes the consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law, or any other right that the law says cannot be excluded. Where the law allows, if we fail a consumer guarantee, our only obligation is to supply the service again or refund what you paid for it.
Otherwise, as far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nor are we liable for decisions you make based on readings, dates or answers from the site. Our total liability to you is at most what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Governing law
The law of Victoria, Australia governs these terms, and its courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer elsewhere, you keep the protections of the law where you live.
