All positions are sidereal. The ayanāṁśa is Lahiri (Chitrapaksha).

The Sun and Moon positions come from VSOP87 and ELP2000-82. They agree with JPL DE421 to a few arcseconds.

This almanac computes dṛk positions, which match the sky. A vākya almanac uses older tables and can differ from it by more than an hour. Families follow either.

The classical theory behind the almanac: Sūrya Siddhānta

The panchangam is local. Sunrise starts the day, and all times change with the place.
