Vallūṟu is the vulture, the first of the five birds of pañca pakṣi. Its letter is a. The birth stars Aśvinī to Mṛgaśira are its own (PPS 8.22). In the waxing pakṣa it eats in the first yāma of Sunday and Tuesday by day (2.1) and of Friday by night (3.1). Uromarishi gives the same for the waxing pakṣa (UVP 2.10, 2.43). In the waning pakṣa its letter is i, and its stars are Śravaṇa to Revatī (UVP 3.61, 4.96).
